Our El Tigre Endlers came to us from a respected European breeder about four years ago and are some of the tiniest Endlers we’ve ever raised. Yet their striking black against iridescent green, yellow and orange make them seem larger than life.
We find El Tigre’s favor a densely planted tank (using live or artificial plants) for the best vigor and color saturation. Nearly all have nice black dorsal fins. However we find them to dislike being photographed outside their tank; when we try to capture their brilliance, the first thing that seems to fade a bit is that black dorsal. Never fear, however, as these little guys go right back to flaring for the females with full saturation once back in their home tank.
